“Blogger or Wordpress?” – A common question that I’ve been asked multiple times. The truth is that they both have their own strengths and weaknesses. Though Wordpress is a must more powerful Content Management System (CMS), you can’t fully use it’s full potential until you have your own web-hosting and domain name.

Why must I have my own web-hosting and domain name to use the full potential of Wordpress? The answer is simple, though WP is powerful, the blogs that you create at http://www.wordpress.com are somewhat “limited”. By limited, I mean that you can’t add javascript to any of the pages, can’t add adsense, can’t add any plugins and can only choose from a predefined set of template themes.

If you are simply looking for a simple blog and won’t mind domain names such as http://www.my-domain.blogspot.com, then stick with Blogger. Blogger in itself is not such a bad CMS (though I seem to imply that it’s inferior). It’s simple user interface and wide customization of the template themes make it a simple and fast solution for anyone looking for a simple Blog.

All in all, I must say that I am a huge Wordpress fan myself and why shouldn’t I be?

Why WordPress???

Take a simple look at the user created plugins for Wordpress here. A quick look would tell you that they are in the excess of 3,000s. Being free to use any of these plugins as you wish for free, blogs created using the Wordpress CMS are much more unique and eye-appealing.

Check out the homepage of this site – EndlessCorner, see that flashy rotating feature posts thing? Don’t expect to see such functions appear in Blogger. Though it is a custom user/template feature, that’s why Wordpress trump over Blogger – Customization wins.
